Nikita a été révélée aux cinéphiles en jouant le rôle de Gloria dans "the Queen of Katwe" produit par Disney. Le film raconte l'histoire vraie de Phiona Mutesi, une adolescente qui a grandi dans un bidonville du quartier de Katwe, à Kampala, capitale de l'Ouganda. La star holywoodienne Lupita Nyong'o qui a joué aux côtés de Nikita lui a rendu hommage sur Instagram. "It is with great sadness that I post about the passing of Nikita Waligwa, the sweet, warm, talented girl whom I worked with on the film, Queen Of Katwe. She played Gloria with such vibrancy." a-t-elle écrit.
