FR Depuis plus de 15 ans à l'occasion de la Berlinale, le World Cinema Fund (WCF) ainsi que les institutions de financements en Allemagne et en Europe soutiennent la production cinématographique dans des pays caractérisés par des crises politico-économiques ou qui manquent des infrastructures cinématographiques. La WCF a été fondée en 2004, en collaboration avec la Fondation culturelle fédérale et plus tard en coopération avec le ministère fédéral des Affaires étrangères et le Goethe-Institut. Le programme de financement n'a cessé de s'élargir avec l'arrivée d'autres partenaires tels que le programme Creative Europe MEDIA.
Le WCF a pour but de faire connaître des réalités invisibles et de promouvoir la coopération avec les cinéastes des régions qu'il couvre. Le WCF porte également sur la recontextualisation du cinéma et de sa géographie: le contexte historique des régions ciblées est souvent caractérisé par la complexité de leur héritage colonial. Le WCF crée les conditions pour communiquer et apprécier la diversité.
EN 15 Years of Diversity, Artistic Brilliance, Sustainable International Cooperation and the Promotion of Cinema
For more than 15 years, the World Cinema Fund (WCF), as part of the Berlinale and the German-European funding landscape, has been supporting film production in countries which are characterised by economic or political crises or which lack a sufficient film infrastructure. The WCF was founded in 2004, together with the Federal Cultural Foundation and later in cooperation with the Federal Foreign Office and the Goethe-Institut. The funding programme has continuously expanded - also with other partners such as the Creative Europe MEDIA programme.
The aim is to uncover invisible realities and to promote cooperation with filmmakers in the WCF regions. The WCF is also about the re-contextualisation of cinema and its geography: The historical context in the focus regions is often characterised by the complexity of their colonial heritage. The WCF creates the conditions for communicating and appreciating diversity.
