Parmi les dix projets sélectionnés par La Fabrique Cinéma de l’Institut français, figurent deux projets africains. Il s'agit de Coura + Oulèye de la sénégalaise Iman Djionne et de The Nights Still Smell of Gunpowder du mozambicain Inadelso Cossa. La Fabrique Cinéma de l’Institut français est un programme de repérage et de valorisation des cinéastes et producteurs des pays du Sud et émergents. Chaque année, un réalisateur ou une réalisatrice de renommée internationale est choisi comme parrain ou marraine. Véritable mentor, il leur consacre plusieurs séances de travail. Cette année Rachid Bouchareb a accepté l'invitation de l'Institut français à devenir parrain de la Fabrique Cinéma 2020.
Rachid Bouchareb réalise dès le début des années quatre-vingt une série de court-métrages avant son premier long-métrage Bâton Rouge en 1985. Par la suite, il réalise douze long-métrages, trois d'entre eux ont été nommés à l'Oscar du meilleur film en langue étrangère : Poussière de vie en 1996, Indigènes en 2006 et Hors La Loi en 2010. Indigènes et Hors La Loi sont présentés en compétition officielle au Festival de Cannes, le premier recevra le Prix d'Interprétation masculine attribué collectivement aux acteurs principaux.

EN Among the ten projects selected by La Fabrique Cinéma of the French Institute, there are two African projects. It's about Coura + Oulèye by the Senegalese Iman Djionne and The Nights Still Smell of Gunpowder by the Mozambican Inadelso Cossa. La Fabrique Cinéma of the French Institute is a program that identify and promote filmmakers and producers from southern and emerging countries. Each year, a renown director is appointed as mentor, he devotes several working sessions to the selected projects. This year, Rachid Bouchareb has accepted the invitation of the French Institute to become a sponsor of La Fabrique Cinéma 2020.
Rachid Bouchareb made a series of short films in the early eighties before his first feature film Bâton Rouge in 1985. Subsequently, he directed twelve feature films, three of them were nominated for the Oscar for best film in a foreign language: Dust of life in 1996, Indigènes in 2006 and Hors La Loi in 2010. Indigènes and Hors La Loi were presented in the official competition at the Cannes Film Festival. The first one received the Male Interpretation Prize awarded collectively to the main players.
