FR Maliyamungu Muhande a remporté la 41ème édition du festival « Fine Cuts », grâce à son court métrage documentaire,« Nine Days A Week » (Neuf jours par semaine). Le festival estudiantin« Fine Cuts » ,organisé chaque année par la prestigieuse université « The New School», s’est déroulé cette année en ligne,à cause de la pandémie du Covid-19.
Maliyamungu Muhande a remporté les trois prix de la compétition : le prix du jury, celui du public et le prix décerné par les anciens. « Nine Days A Week » dévoile le portrait du célèbre photographe de rue afro-américain,Louis Mendes qui débuta sa carrière en 1953 à Harlem.
Originaire de la ville de Bukavu,dans l’Est de la RDC, Maliyamungu Muhande est une cinéaste et directrice artistique congolaise basée à New York.Son travail explore les réalités actuelles pour donner un aperçu de l’histoire. Elle termine actuellement un Master en documentaire à la School of Media Studies de The New School.
EN Maliyamungu Muhande won the 41st edition of the "Fine Cuts" festival, with her short documentary, "Nine Days A Week". “Fine Cuts” is a student festival, hold each year by the prestigious “The New School” university. It took place online this year because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Maliyamungu Muhande won the three competition prizes: the jury prize, the public prize and the prize awarded by the alumni. “Nine Days A Week” reveals the portrait of the famous African-American street photographer, Louis Mendes who began his career in 1953 in Harlem.
Originally from the city of Bukavu in eastern DRC, Maliyamungu Muhande is a Congolese filmmaker and artistic director based in New York. Her work explores current realities to give a glimpse of history. She is currently completing a Master in Documentary at the School of Media Studies at The New School.
