FR Descente dans l'air toxique de l'Angola. Une fiction intrigante et réussie découverte au Festival international du film de Rotterdam 2020, sélectionnée à Fribourg, qui a été plébiscitée sur Internet. Aire Acondicionado de Fradique (de son vrai nom Mario Bastos) est une expérience cinématographique sous la forme d'un récit hypnotique et viral.
L'action se déroule au centre-ville de Luanda et suit le jeune sans-abri Matacedo, un gardien de sécurité dans un complexe d'appartements, entrecoupé de ses conversations avec Zezinha, une femme au foyer un peu agitée. Son patron veut que son climatiseur soit réparé avant la tombée de la nuit, ce qui devient une menace collective : les climatiseurs tombent les uns après les autres des immeubles, mettant en danger la vie des passants. A cela s'ajoutent, au début du film, des fragments d'actualité à la radio. Pendant ce temps, la pièce nécessaire pour réparer le climatiseur du patron se trouve dans le magasin d'électroniques Kota Mino, juste à côté.
Matacedo, avec Zezinha, forcent la porte à se fermer, puis, le fil narratif prend un autre tournant, quand ils découvrent le gérant du magasin dans une étrange voiture immobile dans laquelle viennent se greffer les images du souvenir déjà perdu de l'Angola. Kota Mino partage la découverte avec Zezinha, mais la fragilité de l'objet les fait partir au moment où ils trouvent la pièce qui pourrait réparer le climatiseur. Le retour à un présent incertain permet à Matacedo d'acquérir la pièce nécessaire pour retourner dans son appartement.
Aire Acondicionado est un film atmosphérique, réalisé sur l'une des principales avenues de Mutamba au centre de Luanda. Fradique s'appuie sur son collectif artistique, Geração 80, pour exprimer ses visions. La caméra stabilisatrice ( steadicam ) de son complice, Ery Claver, co-scénariste du film, suit avec une attitude d'indifférence, les allées et venues à Luanda. «Matacedo est un personnage qui incarne le reflet de l'état d'inertie et, à la fois, d'espoir par rapport aux dystrophies verticales dans lesquelles nous vivons», souligne Fradique. C'est un vétéran de la guerre qui ignore l'amertume que cela entraîne , joué par José Kitekulo.
Ce voyage épique pour rencontrer le boss irascible et réparer la climatisation prend son sens dans le labyrinthe de rues, de couloirs et de cours d'immeubles des années 1950.
Aire Acondicionado ne fait pas attention aux détails quotidiens, mais sert plutôt de métaphore pour une maladie qui s'érode à un rythme inquiétant, souvent lent, sorcier et fantomatique. Certaines conversations entre Matacedo et Zezinha s'éternisent dans le temps, rythmées par les compositions jazz d'Aline Frazao . Si Aire Acondicionado commence par des photographies en noir et blanc époustouflantes de l'artiste angolais Cafuxi, le film se termine par des images actuelles de vieilles télévisions, comme si le présent du film était aussi fictif que visionnaire .

Aire Acondicionado by Fradique (real name Mario Bastos) is a cinematic experience in the form of a hypnotic and viral narrative.
The action takes place in downtown Luanda and follows young homeless Matacedo, a security guard at an apartment complex, interspersed with his conversations with Zezinha, a somewhat restless housewife. His boss wants his air conditioner repaired before nightfall, which is becoming a collective threat: air conditioners fall one after another from buildings, endangering the lives of passers-by. To this are added, at the beginning of the film, fragments of current events on the radio. Meanwhile, the part needed to fix the boss's air conditioner can be found in the Kota Mino electronics store next door.
Matacedo, with Zezinha, force the door to close, then, the narrative thread takes another turn, when they discover the manager of the store in a strange motionless car in which are grafted the images of the already lost memory of Angola. Kota Mino shares the discovery with Zezinha, but the fragility of the object causes them to leave the moment they find the part that could fix the air conditioner. The return to an uncertain present allows Matacedo to acquire the room necessary to return to his apartment.
Aire Acondicionado is an atmospheric film, made on one of the main avenues of Mutamba in central Luanda. Fradique relies on his artistic collective, Geração 80, to express his visions. The stabilizing camera (steadicam) of his accomplice, Ery Claver, co-screenwriter of the film, follows with an attitude of indifference, the comings and goings in Luanda. "Matacedo is a character who embodies the reflection of the state of inertia and, at the same time, of hope in relation to the vertical dystrophies in which we live", underlines Fradique. He is a war veteran who ignores the bitterness that this entails, played by José Kitekulo.

Aire Acondicionado doesn't pay attention to day-to-day details, but rather serves as a metaphor for a disease that is eroding at an ominous, often slow, wizarding, and ghostly rate. Certain conversations between Matacedo and Zezinha go on forever, punctuated by the jazz compositions of Aline Frazao. While Aire Acondicionado begins with stunning black and white photographs by Angolan artist Cafuxi, the film ends with contemporary images from old televisions, as if the present of the film is as fictional as it is visionary.
