FR Baba Diop, journaliste et critique de cinéma sénégalais, a été gratifié d’un Tanit d’or à l’occasion de la cérémonie d’ouverture des Journées Cinématographiques de Carthage, le samedi 30 octobre 2021. Cette récompense qu’il a reçu des mains du directeur général des JCC, Ridha Behi, et de la ministre des Affaires culturelles, Hayet Guettat Guermazi, récompense son “parcours exceptionnel” et ses services rendus au cinéma africain.
« Je suis comblé pour cette reconnaissance des JCC. J’ai été honoré au cinquantenaire du Festival Panafricain du Cinéma et de la télévision de Ouagadougou (FESPACO) en 2019, je ne peux qu’être fier si les deux grands festivals du continent africain m’honorent », a déclaré Baba Diop.
Il a dédié son trophée à « l’ensemble des critiques africains, à tous les journalistes culturels sénégalais et au peuple sénégalais ».
« C’est une reconnaissance que je partage avec la Fédération Africaine de la Critique Cinématographique (FACC) créée ici, aux JCC en 2004, avec l’Association sénégalaise de la critique, avec mon pays le Sénégal. C’est un hommage rendu à l’ensemble des critiques d’Afrique », a-t-il ajouté.
Baba Diop a été président de la FACC de 2009 à 2013. Il a été aussi président de l’Association Sénégalaise de la Critique Cinématographique de 2007 à 2009.
EN TUNISIA: Senegalese journalist and film critic Baba Diop receives a Golden Tanit
Baba Diop, Senegalese journalist and film critic was awarded a Golden Tanit on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the Carthage Film Days on Saturday, October 30, 2021. The award was presented to Diop by Director General of the JCC, Ridha Behi and the Minister of Cultural Affairs, Hayet Guettat Guermazi, in honor of his “exceptional career” and his services to African cinema.
“I am overwhelmed by this recognition of the JCC. I was honored at the fiftieth anniversary of the Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO) in 2019. I can only be proud if the two major festivals on the African continent honor me.” Baba Diop said.
He dedicated his trophy to "all African critics, to all Senegalese cultural journalists and to the Senegalese people".
“This is a recognition that I share with the African Federation of Film Criticism (FACC) created here at the JCC in 2004, with the Senegalese Critics Association, with my country Senegal. It’s a tribute to all of Africa’s critics.” he added.
Baba Diop was president of the FACC from 2009 to 2013. He was also president of the Senegalese Association of Film Critics from 2007 to 2009.
